Irish Design 2015 visit to Stockholm

Irish Design 2015 visit to Stockholm

On Tuesday 20 October, a delegation from Irish Design 2015, led by Minister Ged Nash T.D. will visit Stockholm as part of a design feasibility study. The visit is being organised as part of Irish Design 2015 (www.irishdesign2015.ie) a programme exploring, promoting and celebrating Irish design and designers through events and activities on the island of Ireland and in international capitals of design and commerce.

ID2015 aims to foster dialogue and collaboration. By encouraging investment in design as a key component of competitiveness and innovation, this initiative aims to sustain and grow employment opportunities and sales and export potential for the Irish design sector into the future.

Working closely with Enterprise Ireland, and the Departments of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, ID2015 aims to link Irish design to international trade missions and offers a unique opportunity for Irish designers to highlight the significant role and impact that design has in every facet of life.

The ID2015 visit to Stockholm will include a visit to the Royal Stockholm Seaport project to examine world-class sustainable design, the inauguration of an exciting new product by Hanley Energy, a meeting with the KTH School of Architecture as well as political meetings with the Minister’s counterparts in the Swedish Government.

The visit will culminate in a networking and showcase event aimed at raising the profile of Irish design in Sweden, showcasing the role of design in driving the success of Arup Ireland, a global leader in engineering and design consultancy, and providing a networking opportunity for Irish designers and professionals in Sweden.
