Directions to the Embassy

To travel to the Embassy by public transport, take the train to Bern and from the main train station, take Tram no. 7 (Direction Ostring) or no. 8 (Direction Saali) to Thunplatz. The stop at Thunplatz is in the middle of a roundabout. The Embassy is located 150m downhill on Kirchenfeldstrasse, on the left hand side of the road. To travel to the Embassy by car, take the motorway to Bern, leave the motorway at the exit for Bern-Ostring. At the traffic lights, choose the directions of "Zentrum", then follow signs for Lausanne, passing through two roundabouts onto Kirchenfeldstrasse. The Embassy is on the left hand side of the road. There is limited parking in the side streets near the Embassy.

If you would like to contact the Embassy, you may email us at berne@dfa.ie The inbox is monitored regularly throughout business hours, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, you may call the Embassy at +41 (0) 31 350 03 80 between 9.30 and 12.00, Monday to Friday. 

Passport & Visa Office

All those resident in Switzerland and Liechtenstein who require a passport must now apply online using the Passport Online Service. If you have any queries relating to a passport application, please contact our Customer Service Hub who will be happy to assist you.

Those resident in Algeria who require a passport, or who have a passport enquiry, may contact the Embassy

If you have a query about visas, you may contact the Embassy with all relevant information, and we will respond as soon as possible. 

Out of hours Emergency Contact Details

If you are in need of emergency assistance while the Embassy is closed, please contact the main Embassy number at +41 (0)31 350 03 80 and leave a message on the answering machine. The answering machine is monitored regularly and the Duty Officer will contact you as soon as possible.
