Ambassador Kelly

Ambassador Kelly took up his position in The Hague in November 2016.

Welcome Message

Failte róimh go dtí suíomh gréasáin Ambasáid na hÉireann i Ríocht na hÍsiltíre.

Welcome to the website of the Irish Embassy to The Netherlands.

Here you will find information about the bilateral relationship between Ireland and The Netherlands and about the services provided by the Embassy.

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Irish Ambassador to the Netherlands. Having presented my credentials to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander on the 30th November 2016 I am very much looking forward to representing Ireland in this wonderful country and deepening the already excellent relationship between our two countries.

Links between our two countries go back a long time. There are many affinities between Irish and Dutch people and friendships between them are warm and close. Diplomatic relations between Ireland and The Netherlands were established in 1945 and the Irish Embassy in The Hague was opened in 1950.

The Embassy's job is to promote closer ties between Ireland and The Netherlands at the levels of government, business, culture and people. The Netherlands is an important partner for Ireland in the European Union and we want to strengthen our cooperation in this area. The Netherlands is also a very significant market for Ireland in trade, investment and tourism. The Embassy works closely with Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia, and IDA Ireland to promote Irish economic interests in this country.

The Embassy also supports Tourism Ireland in promoting Ireland as a place for Dutch people to visit for tourism or study.  Many of them know Ireland as a green island with a wonderful environment and great historical and natural attractions but there is also a modern Ireland with a high tech economy and vibrant universities and research institutions.

One of Ireland's greatest strengths is our Culture and the Embassy organisers and supports a number of cultural activities every year. Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter where you will find details of these events as well as other news about Ireland.

Finally, the Embassy is here to assist Irish people who may require support so please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help. We want to provide the best possible service to our citizens and to the Irish community in The Netherlands so please let us know if you think we can do better. We value your feedback and will use it to improve the services we offer.

Fáilte romhaibh chuig suíomh gréasáin Ambasáid na hÉireann i Ríocht na hÍsiltíre.

Gheobhaidh sibh eolas anseo ar an gcaidreamh idir Éire agus an Ísiltír agus ar na seirbhísí a sholáthraíonn an Ambasáid.

Tá áthas ormsa mé féin a chur in aithne i mo cháil mar Ambasadóir nua na hÉireann san Ísiltír. Tar éis dom mo chuid dintiúr a chur i láthair a Shoilse an Rí Willem-Alexander ar an 30 Samhain 2016, táim ag tnúth go mór le hionadaíocht a dhéanamh ar son na hÉireann sa tír iontach seo, agus cur leis an gcaidreamh den scoth atá idir an dá thír seo cheana féin.

Téann na naisc idir an dá thír seo againne siar i bhfad. Tá bá ag muintir na hÉireann agus muintir na hÍsiltíre le chéile agus is croíúil é an cairdeas eatarthu. Bunaíodh caidreamh taidhleoireachta idir Éire agus an Ísiltír i 1945 agus osclaíodh Ambasáid na hÉireann sa Háig i 1950.

Is é an cúram atá ar an Ambasáid ceangal níos dlúithe idir Éire agus an Ísiltír a chothú ar leibhéal an rialtais, an ghnó, an chultúir, agus ar leibhéal na ndaoine féin. Comhpháirtí tábhachtach de chuid na hÉireann san Aontas Eorpach is ea an Ísiltír agus ba mhaith linn cur leis an gcomhar eadrainn sa réimse sin. Is margadh tábhachtach í an Ísiltír i gcomhair na hÉireann i dtaobh trádála, infheistíochta agus turasóireachta. Bíonn an Ambasáid ag obair i ndlúthpháirt le Fiontraíocht Éireann, an Bord Bia, agus GFT Éireann chun leasanna geilleagracha na hÉireann sa tír seo a chur chun cinn.

Ina theannta sin, tacaíonn an Ambasáid le Turasóireacht Éireann chun Éire a chur chun cinn mar cheann scríbe do mhuintir na hÍsiltíre le haghaidh turasóireachta nó staidéir. Tá aithne ag a lán acu ar Éirinn mar oileán glas ina bhfuil taobh tíre den scoth agus áiteanna iontacha stairiúla agus nádúrtha a mheallann na turasóirí, ach is ann freisin d'Éirinn nua-aimseartha, a bhfuil geilleagar ardteicneolaíochta aici agus ollscoileanna agus institiúidí taighde bríomhara.

Tá an Cultúr ar cheann de láidreachtaí móra na hÉireann agus eagraíonn an Ambasáid roinnt gníomhaíochtaí cultúrtha gach bliain agus tacaíonn sí le cuid eile. Lean muid, le bhur thoil, ar Facebook agus Twitter, áit a bhfaighidh sibh gach eolas faoi na himeachtaí sin mar aon le nuacht eile faoi Éirinn.

Mar fhocal scoir, is ann don Ambasáid anseo chun cuidiú le hÉireannaigh a dteastaíonn tacaíocht uathu, mar sin ná bíodh drogall ar bith oraibh teagmháil a dhéanamh linn más féidir linn cabhrú libh. Is mian linn an tseirbhís is fearr is féidir a chur ar fáil dár saoránaigh agus don phobal Éireannach san Ísiltír. Inis dúinn é, le bhur dtoil, má mheasann sibh go bhféadfaimis aon ní a fheabhsú. Is mór againn an t-aiseolas uaibh agus bainfimid leas as chun feabhas a chur ar na seirbhísí a chuirimid ar fáil.
