I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Zambia which I hope you will find useful and informative. In addition to providing information on the services provided by the Embassy, it is a source of facts on Ireland and Zambia, and on the links between our two countries.

It is a privilege for me to represent Ireland in Zambia – a country I have previously lived in and have fond memories of. Relations between Ireland and Zambia are excellent and the friendship between our two nations continues to strengthen in all areas.

The relationship between Ireland and Zambia dates back to the pre-independence period of our two countries. Irish missionaries first came to Zambia in the early part of the 20th century establishing a relationship of friendship, trust and solidarity that continues to this day. In the decades that followed Zambia’s independence this relationship continued to grow and today Ireland and Zambia continue to enjoy a warm and special relationship. Our bilateral ties now cover many areas – political, economic, development and cultural. An important part of this relationship is our development cooperation programme that commenced in 1980. The programme currently focuses on education, social protection, and good governance.

Our work at the Embassy in Lusaka seeks to maintain and further develop close and mutually benefitting relations between Ireland and Zambia. A significant part of our work is promoting economic development and business development between our two countries. If you believe the Embassy may be able to assist you in exploring opportunities for trade with Ireland or in Zambia, please get in touch with us.

For those of you planning on visiting Zambia we recommend registering your details with the Embassy and checking our Travel Advice Section before you travel. We welcome feedback on our website and on the services we provide – please Contact Us with any comments or queries.

Gúim gach rath oraibh – best wishes to all
