Naturalisation

Naturalisation

What is naturalisation?

Naturalisation is a process whereby a non-Irish national can apply to become an Irish citizen subject to satisfying certain conditions for naturalisation.

Applying for naturalisation:

All applications for Irish citizenship are dealt with by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service of the Department of Justice and Equality. The majority of applications will have a decision within 6 months. For more information on the application process, please visit www.inis.gov.ie

For useful residency information for non-Irish family members please visit the Crosscare Migrant Project, an organisation funded by the Irish Government under the Emigrant Support Programme.
