St. Patrick’s Day reception at the Massachusetts State House

Consul-General Breandán Ó Caollaí and Ms. Carmel Callan met Mr. Martin Walsh, Mayor of Boston and Mr. Sean Moynihan, Chair of Irish Network Boston, at the very successful St. Patrick’s Day reception at the Massachusetts State House on Friday, 13 March 2015.‌

The event attracted hundreds of guests and was addressed by the Consul-General, the President of IN-Boston, Mayor Marty Walsh and Boston City Council Corporation Counsel, Eugene O’Flaherty. In their respective speeches, the Consul-General and Mayor Walsh emphasised the strong economic ties between the city and Ireland, recently symbolised most clearly by the decision to opening the first US based Primark store in downtown Boston later this year. Guests included a number of State representatives and Senators as well as members of An Garda Síochána and local police and military representatives.
