St Patrick's Day Reception 2023

Our 2023 St Patrick’s Day Reception was held in the stunning Goulburn Suite at Manchester Hall. The Fianna Phádraig Pipe Band made an exciting entrance to start the night’s proceedings and were followed by an impressive Irish dancing display from the Duffy Travis King Academy. We are very grateful to both groups for their wonderful performances. They gave a real sense of occasion to the event.

We were honoured to be joined by a number of civic dignitaries, including The Lord Mayor of Manchester, The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, The Mayor and Mayoress of Trafford, and The Ceremonial Mayor of Salford; and by political representatives Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester, Kate Green, James Daly MP, Mike Kane MP, and a number of Councillors from across Greater Manchester and beyond. Most importantly we were delighted to welcome representatives from the Irish community from across the North of England.

We were also joined by some very special guests in the form of representatives of The Republic of Ireland Women’s National Football Team. The team will be travelling to Australia in the summer having secured a spot in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time. A number of the team play professionally for clubs in the North of England and we were lucky to be joined by Niamh Fahey, Captain and defender for Liverpool; Courtney Brosnan, goalkeeper for Everton; and Leanne Kiernan, forward for Liverpool.

And a huge thanks to Irish in the UK TV for featuring the reception in the 306th episode. Irish In the UK » Ep 306 – St Patrick’s Day Celebrations at the Irish Consulate and Jimmy Cricket Celebrates 50 Years in Show Business (theirishintheuktv.com) gives a wonderful edit of the night.
