How quickly can I get my passport?

The current standard processing time is approximately 8-10 weeks for renewals and 12-14 weeks for first time applicants.

We can only issue a temporary 7-month passport or emergency travel document on the day in an emergency situation (the death or serious illness of a family member).

In all other circumstances, you will have to wait a minimum of five working days to get your temporary passport from the day of its receipt at the Consulate. Valid proof of confirmed travel (e.g. airline ticket/email) or a cover note stating your need for a temporary passport and intended travel dates must be presented in order for any application to be processed sooner than the standard turnaround time. You may incur an additional fee.

The Consulate does also have the ability to expedite the standard processing time of the 10 year passport for renewal applicants. Current processing time for this service is 2-3 weeks. Please note the fee for a temporary and 10 year is the same as the fee for expedited 10 year service. As such, please clearly state in a cover note when applying which service you require.
