Celebrating Ireland’s links with Argentina
As part of our work to raise awareness of Irish culture and create a positive image of Ireland in Argentina the Embassy is glad to support various St Patricks Day events , including the annual parade and concert in Plaza San Martin, organised by the Asociacion Argentino Irlandesa Almirante Browne, usually on the Sunday before St Patricks Day.
St Patricks Day itself sees the numerous Irish-themed events around the city of Buenos Aires and across Argentina, with many of the local Irish federations organising events in their area.
The other major gathering of the Irish Argentine community takes place in Spring or early Summer each year. The ‘Encuentro’ or Gathering of the Federacion de Sociedades Irlandeses de Argentina is an opportunity for the various Irish community groups from Buenos Aires city and province to celebrate a common heritage. The 2015 Encuentro takes place at the Hurling Club in Buenos Aires.
