‘A Terrible Beauty’ original play

Irish Theatre Players present ‘A Terrible Beauty’
Canberra Irish Club, Weston

14 - 16 May

The Embassy of Ireland is pleased to support the Irish Community Players’ production of an original dramatic work written and directed by Ian Phillips.

The play is a dramatized re-telling of the 1916 Rising told from the perspectives of the various participants in the conflict; leaders, Volunteers, civilians, children, British and Irish soldiers, politicians and notable commentators. Wherever possible Ian has endeavoured to allow the characters to tell their own stories by using as many first hand accounts as possible.

Period images of the conflict will be screened throughout the play, including the photos of many of the characters who tell their stories.

The play will also include a musical score, including original material composed by Musical Director, Caroline McNicholas, played live by Irish band Night Potion.
