Culture Ireland has lent its support to a new musical production celebrating Irish Australia.

'Exile' tells the story of the Australian-Irish in song, imagery, poetry and spoken word, presented in concert. Exile brings together an exclusive gathering of outstanding artists, from Ireland and Australia, in a scripted performance including:

Artistic Director: Shane Howard

Feature artists: Paul Kelly, Stephen Pigram, Declan O'Rourke, Leah Flanagan, Sean Tyrrell, Steve Cooney, Lynelle Moran, Ewen Baker, Pauline Scanlon, John Spillane and more.

Some of the artists bring newly created songs/tunes and story, while others bring particular skills to the rendering of carefully chosen historical songs. These songs/tunes have been gathered from a lifetime of touring Australia and Ireland while others have been collected in collaboration with the artists and co-musical Director, Ewen Baker. The songs/tunes follow a timeline that encapsulates seminal moments in Australian/Irish history. Exile will be presented as a condensed cultural history of the Irish in Australia, with an emphasis on authenticity.

The Exile website gives more details on dates, venues, and artists.
