‘Ireland Will Be Free’ screening

22 April, 7pm
National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra

The Embassy is delighted to work with the National Film and Sound Archive to bring this remastered version of the 1920 silent film to a wider audience.

In Melbourne in 1920, Archbishop Mannix presided over a St Patrick’s Day celebration that for Australia’s large Irish community was a celebration of Ireland’s emergence from British rule as its own nation. This newly remastered footage is presented in association with the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and features a live piano accompaniment.
