Cyprus-Crete-Ireland - Islands in Motion

Musical gathering of European traditions

7 & 8 February 2020

Soloneion Book Centre

The music styles of three islands with a particular, powerful and evolving identity meet for the first time in Cyprus. Three musicians, from Cyprus (Giannis Koutis, oud, vocals), Brittany of France (Loic Blejean, uillean pipes) and Greece (Vaggelis Gettos, Cretan luth, vocals) seek creatively the underground rhythm which connects three different island traditions which are further bridged through the reading of classic and original texts (Marina Katsari). The lyric tone of Cypriot traditional music meets the solidity of the Cretan rhythms and the vivid Irish melodies for only 2 evenings at Soloneion Book Centre which will be transformed into a music stage for this unique occasion. The universal and folk culture and the archetypes of human creativity set the scenery which you should not miss. Free entrance.

The concerts are supported by the Embassy of Ireland in Cyprus.
