Directory of Irish Studies in Hungary

The Embassy of Ireland is delighted to launch the first Directory of Irish Studies in Hungary. The Directory lists over 40 academics, scholars and translators working in the broad field of Irish Studies at Hungarian universities and third level institutions.

Directory of Irish Studies in Hungary

The Embassy of Ireland greatly values and is very proud of our work with Hungarian academics and translators as well as universities and we are deeply grateful for what they do in sustaining and deepening the appreciation of Irish culture, politics, society and economy in Hungary, introducing Irish studies to new generations and new audiences.

The Embassy has established an Irish Studies Scholars Forum who we work with closely in supporting events, publications and translations that promote Irish culture in Hungary. This work not only promotes Irish culture in Hungary but also makes a significant and much appreciated contribution towards strengthening bilateral relations between Ireland and Hungary.

This Directory of Irish Studies in Hungary is a continuation of this important work. It brings together, for the first time, a comprehensive listing of academics, scholars and translators working in the broad field of Irish Studies at Hungarian universities and third level institutions and independently. It is our hope that the Directory will serve as a useful resource for scholars to network and build relationship and seek collaborations and that it will raise the visibility of Irish studies in Hungary, in Central Europe and in Ireland, recognition that it so richly deserves given the breadth and depth of this academic work.
