Ireland at the Torino Short Film Market 2019

Ireland at the Torino Short Film Market 2019

The ‘Green Shoots’ Panel, introduced by Susanna Pellis of Irish Film Festa and featuring speakers from the Irish film production industry, examined Irish production highlights and publicised Ireland’s film funding opportunities.

This year, Ireland was selected as the featured Guest Country at the Torino Short Film Market (TSFM) in Turin, Northern Italy. The special focus on Ireland which was supported by Culture Ireland, Screen Ireland, and this Embassy, was curated by the Galway Film Fleadh, which curated a programme of short Irish films for the occasion. The shorts programme was followed by a panel, ‘Green Shoots’ which examined Irish production highlights, highlighted some of the wonderful locations Ireland offers for shooting, and publicised Ireland’s film funding opportunities and deserved place at the heart of the festival circuit. Susanna Pellis, of Irish Film Festa, introduced the panel, with featured speakers from right across the Irish film production industry.

The Embassy’s Cultural Attaché, Mr. Darragh Higgins, travelled to Turin for the event, and after the conclusion of the panel and subsequent Q&A, the Embassy hosted a networking reception in the Circolo dei Lettori. Around 150 invited guests networked and discussed opportunities for collaborations with Ireland and the short film industry. This is the fourth edition of the Torino Short Film Market, which precedes the Torino Film Festival.
