Ambassador Tunney presents credentials

H.E. Orla Tunney, Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Portugal, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Portugal, Mr. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, on 23 October 2015.

Ambassador Tunney began her career with the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1992. Before her assignment to Portugal, she fulfilled a number of Corporate Services roles for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Dublin.

She has also served as Director for relations with the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and Director for British-Irish relations.

Ambassador Tunney has served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Canberra. She has previously worked in the Department dealing with the Northern Ireland Peace Process and the Department of the Taoiseach (Prime Minister). She has also served at Ireland’s Permanent Mission to the European Union and the Embassy of Ireland in Tokyo.

Ambassador Tunney completed a double major in International marketing and languages at Dublin City University, and spent her Erasmus year at the University of Dortmund, Germany.
