Cast a cold eye – Olha Friamente

The Irish Association of Portugal in association with the Faculdade de Belas-Artes, Universidade de Lisboa with the support of the Embassy of Ireland and Fundação D. Luis I, presented an art exhibition and evening to make the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Irish poet, W.B. Yeats at Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães Cascais.

The event was honoured by the presence of Caitriona Yeats, grand-daughter of the poet himself. 2015 celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nobel prizewinning poet W.B. Yeats. Yeats is a major figure in recent Irish history, not only for his literary prowess but also for his role as spokesman and statesman in the turbulent years leading up to and the early years of Irish independence.

An art exhibition where works inspired by Yeats poetry opened the event. This was followed by fascinating talks from a panel of speakers, chaired by Dr. Bartholomew Ryan and featuring Professor Patricia Silva McNeill along with the poet's granddaughter, Caitrióna Yeats. The evening was a great success.

The art exhibition is on display until 6 November 2015.
