Ambassador visits the Russian Financial University

Ambassador O'Leary visited the Financial University in Moscow and met with staff and students. He gave an address on Ireland and the European Union, economic integration and economic transformation.

Bloomsday at the Embassy

The Embassy held an evening celebrating James Joyce, Ulysses and Leopold Bloom, with a little help from the Boris Tchaikovsky Society. Around 70 guests enjoyed a distinctly Russian take on the Songs of Joyce.

An evening in memory of Seamus Heaney

The Embassy organised a evening in memory of the late Seamus Heaney at the State Library for Foreign Literature. The Ambassador and a number of Russian speakers paid tribute to the work and the legacy of Seamus Heaney. The special guest speaker was his long time friend and colleague, Pulitzer prize winning poet, Paul Muldoon.

Ambassador O'Leary visited the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow. He met with the Rector, members of staff and students, and gave a speech on the contemporary Irish Russian relationship.

An evening with James Joyce

The Russian State Library for Foreign Literature hosted an evening of James Joyce to coincide with the Embassy's St Patrick's Day celebrations. Ambassador O'Leary spoke of Joyce's early years as a Christian Brothers Boy.

The Embassy hosted its annual national day reception on 17 March 2014. minister Alex White, along with Ambassador O'Leary and his wife Anne, welcomed over 300 guests from the diplomatic, Irish and Russian communities.

Saint Patrick's Day parade in Moscow

The Irish Business Club was supported by the Embassy in organising the annual St Patrick's Day parade in Sokolniki Park in central Moscow. Thousands turned out to listen to the live music and enjoy the various bands and performers. An unique Irish atmosphere, and a wonderful family day out!
