
Ambassador-designate, Finbar O’Brien is the eighth Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Uganda. During his 21 year career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he worked as a Development Worker in Zambia and later returned as the Ambassador of Ireland to Zambia & Namibia. Before that, he worked as the Director of Evaluation in UNICEF New York between 2008-2009.
He has worked in various strategic roles with the Department, most recently heading the Performance and Planning Unit as the Director, before taking up his role as Ambassador to Uganda. He holds a Master in Sociology of Development from University College Cork and a Master in Development Management from the Open University.
