The Government of Ireland today completed the airlifting of essential relief items worth €500,000 (more than 2 billion UGX) to support South Sudanese refugees in Uganda. This critically needed assistance includes blankets, shelter construction materials, cooking sets and mosquito nets.

The UN Declaration on Human Rights, 68 years old on December 10th 2016, recognised for the first time something that has become universally accepted since then, that human rights are inherent to all and should be of concern to all. The Declaration and its core values, including non-discrimination, equality, fairness and universality, apply to everyone, everywhere and always.

A reception in honour of the Ugandan students who were awarded fellowships to undertake post-graduate study in Ireland and within the region (East & Southern Africa) has been held at the Embassy of Ireland, Kampala. The students were funded under the Government of Ireland’s Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme (FTP).

Embassy Kampala is delighted to announce that Devenish Nutrition has been nominated for an Investors Award at the 2016 Investor of the Year Award Gala. The awards ceremony will take place today Friday 24 June, the final day of Uganda Investment Week which is organised by the Ugandan Investment Authority. Devenish Nutrition is the only European company who has been nominated for an award.

The Embassy of Ireland to Uganda is delighted to announce that Ireland will be represented at the 2nd Euro African Kampala Film Festival from 16 to 27 June. Come and see films from 18 countries across Africa and Europe. Films will be screened at Cineplex Oasis Mall in Kampala and tickets cost only UGX 3,000.
In partnership with Trinity College Dublin and the Justice Law and Order Sector, Irish Aid successfully organised and conducted training in Ireland in August 2014.

Increasing the links between Ireland and Uganda, has assumed much greater importance in the work of the Embassy in recent years.
A reception was held at the residence of Ireland’s Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Dónal Cronin, on the 12th of March. This was followed by the Irish Party organised by the Irish Society on Friday, March 13th. The celebration culminated in the St. Patrick’s Day Ball which was held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Saturday, March 14th.
As part of the Global Greening initiative, the Embassy partnered with the Uganda Tourism Board and the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Maria Mutagamba, in turning the Equator landmark green.
Every year, the Embassy of Ireland in Kampala joins one of its implementing partners to celebrate World AIDS Day. This year, the Embassy partnered with Mama’s Club to highlight the importance of male involvement in the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV/AIDS.
Enterprise Ireland is the Irish Government organisation responsible for the development and growth of Irish enterprises in world markets. At the end of November 2014, the Embassy hosted two representatives from Enterprise Ireland. The visit came at an opportune time as the Embassy in Kampala is exploring ways of promoting trade between Ireland and Uganda/the region.
Ambassador Dónal Cronin presented his credentials to H.E. President Y. K. Museveni at State House Entebbe.
The Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Parliament of Ireland, Deputy Pat Breen T.D., made an official visit to Uganda in September 2014.
