Ambassador Moran - Ireland's fourth Ambassador to Vietnam

I am very honoured to be Ireland's fourth Ambassador to Vietnam. It is nearly ten years since Ireland opened an Embassy in this beautiful country, and since that time, links have gone from strength to strength. We are here to develop and promote good relations between Ireland and Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR and to help Irish citizens visiting or residing in any of these countries.

Trade between Ireland and Vietnam has grown rapidly in recent years, with a strong focus on the education sector; food and beverages, ICT, and aviation services. The Embassy, together with our partners in Enterprise Ireland and An Bord Bia (the Irish Food Board), is determined to ensure that this important trade relationship will continue to grow and flourish. The Embassy is available to help any Irish businesses that want to explore the many opportunities offered by this exciting and dynamic market of over 90 million people.

Over the past decades, Vietnam has made great progress in reducing poverty and improving the quality of life and opportunities for its people. Ireland, through the Irish Aid programme, is proud to have been a partner in this transformation. Our focus has been on supporting vulnerable and marginalised communities, including the rich and diverse ethnic minority communities across the country and in helping to promote gender equality which is fundamental to the sustainable eradication of poverty and inequality. We also help tackle the legacy of conflict across the region, supporting UXO/Demining operations in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. In addition to this work, we support local organisations helping people with disabilities in Vietnam.

Education has been at the heart of Ireland's economic and social transformation. We are pleased to share this world class resource with Vietnam by providing a number of scholarships to talented young Vietnamese students.

We have a dynamic and growing Irish community in Vietnam and our Embassy is proud to work closely with the community both in providing services and in promoting the very best of all things Irish.

This website has been designed with the needs of our many clients: whether you are an Irish tourist planning a holiday, an Irish business person considering an opportunity in Vietnam, or an Irish visitor in need of consular assistance, we hope you will find this website helpful. We also want this website to be a resource to Vietnamese citizens who wish to know more about Ireland, whether they require a visa, are considering doing business in Ireland, or simply want to find out more about Ireland or our aid programme in Vietnam.

Finally, I would encourage all Irish visitors to Vietnam, Lao PDR and Cambodia to use our on-line registration facility to register with the Embassy for the duration of your visit here. This will make it much easier for us to get in touch with you in the event of an emergency at home or in the vicinity during your stay.

Le gach dea ghuí /Best wishes

Is mór an onóir dom é a bheith i mo cheathrú Ambasadóir de chuid na hÉireann chun Vítneam. Tá beagnach deich mbliana imithe tharainn ó bhunaigh Éire Ambasáid sa tír seo álainn seo, agus ón am sin i leith tá an ceangal eadrainn imithe ó neart go neart. Is ann dúinn anseo chun forbairt a dhéanamh ar an dea-chaidreamh idir Éire agus Vítneam, an Chambóid, agus Daon-Phoblacht Dhaonlathach Laos, an caidreamh sin a chothú, agus cabhrú le saoránaigh Éireannacha atá ag tabhairt cuairte ar aon cheann de na tíortha seo nó ina gcónaí iontu.

Tá borradh mór faoin trádáil idir Éire agus Vítneam le blianta beaga anuas, agus tá béim ar leith ar an earnáil oideachais, an earnáil bia agus dí, TFC, agus seirbhísí eitlíochta. Mar aon lenár gcomhpháirtithe i bhFiontraíocht Éireann agus sa Bhord Bia, tá an Ambasáid meáite ar a chinntiú go leanfar ar aghaidh le fás agus forbairt an chaidrimh trádála thábhachtaigh sin eadrainn. Tá an Ambasáid ar fáil chun cabhrú le haon ghnólachtaí Éireannacha ar mian leo na deiseanna iomadúla a thapú atá le fáil sa mhargadh spreagúil dinimiciúil seo ina bhfuil níos mó ná 90 milliún duine.

Thar na blianta anuas, tá dul chun cinn mór déanta ag Vítneam maidir leis an mbochtaineacht a laghdú agus feabhas a chur ar cháilíocht na beatha agus ar dheiseanna do mhuintir na tíre. Cúis bhróid is ea é d'Éirinn, trí chlár Chúnamh Éireann, go rabhamar inár gcomhpháirtí san athrú mór sin. Dhíríomar ar thacú le pobail leochaileacha agus pobail imeallaithe, lena n-áirítear na pobail shaibhre éagsúla de mhionlaigh eitneacha ar fud na tíre, agus ar chuidiú le cur chun cinn an chomhionannais inscne atá ina ghné bhunúsach i dtaobh dhíothú inbhuanaithe na bochtaineachta agus na héagothroime. Ina theannta sin, bímid ag dul i ngleic le hoidhreacht na coinbhleachta ar fud an réigiúin, agus muid ag tacú le hoibríochtaí maidir le diúscairt ordanáis phléascaigh agus glanadh mianach talún i Vítneam, i Laos, sa Chambóid, agus i Maenmar. Anuas ar an obair sin, tacaímid le heagraíochtaí áitiúla a bhíonn ag cabhrú le daoine faoi mhíchumas i Vítneam.

Bhí an t-oideachas i gcroílár chlaochlú geilleagrach agus sóisialta na hÉireann. Tá áthas orainn an acmhainn den scoth sin a chomhroinnt le Vítneam trí roinnt scoláireachtaí a chur ar fáil do mhic léinn óga tréitheacha Vítneamacha.

Tá pobal dinimiciúil Éireannach anseo i Vítneam, pobal atá ag dul i méid, agus is cúis bhróid ag ár nAmbasáid é a bheith ag obair i ndlúthpháirt leis an bpobal sin i ndáil le seirbhísí a sholáthar agus an chuid is fearr d'Éirinn a chur chun cinn.

Dearadh an suíomh gréasáin seo chun freastal ar riachtanais ár gcliant iomadúil: cibé an turasóir Éireannach thú a bhfuil saoire beartaithe agat, duine le lucht gnó na hÉireann a bhfuil deis á breithniú agat i Vítneam, nó cuairteoir Éireannach a bhfuil cúnamh consalachta de dhíth ort, tá súil againn go mbeidh an suíomh gréasáin seo ina chúnamh duit. Is mian linn freisin go mbeadh an suíomh gréasáin seo ina acmhainn do mhuintir Vítneam ar mhaith leo faisnéis a fháil faoi Éirinn, cibé acu an bhfuil víosa de dhíth orthu, an bhfuil siad ag smaoineamh ar dhul i mbun gnó in Éirinn, nó nach bhfuil uathu ach níos mó a fháil amach faoi Éirinn nó faoin gclár cúnaimh dár gcuid i Vítneam.

Mar fhocal scoir, ba mhaith liom gach Éireannach a thabharfaidh cuairt ar Vítneam, ar Dhaon-Phoblacht Dhaonlathach Laos agus ar an gCambóid a spreagadh chun leas a bhaint as ár n-áis chlárúcháin ar líne chun clárú leis an Ambasáid ar feadh ré bhur gcuairteanna anseo. Fágfaidh sé sin i bhfad níos éasca againn é teagmháil a dhéanamh leat i gcás éigeandála sa bhaile nó sa chomharsanacht le linn do chuairte.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Cáit Moran
