Dublin celebrates Vietnamese New Year!

On 6th February, the Vietnamese IDEAS programme fellows at University College Dublin (UCD), organised a celebration of Vietnamese New Year, also known as Tet, in Dublin. Over 300 guests, including Irish families with adopted Vietnamese children and members of the Vietnamese community in Dublin, came along to celebrate the lunar New Year together with traditional dances and music. The Tet holiday is the most important celebration in the Vietnamese Calendar, and Tết Việt’ has become a well-known event in Ireland over the last few years. The annual Vietnamese Cultural Night celebration in Dublin gives the students a chance to share their culture while raising money for their charity programme “Only rice is not enough”, supporting poor children in the mountainous areas of Vietnam.
