Ireland Fellows Programme now open to applicants from Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay

Participants in the Ireland's Fellows Programme gather in Dublin to celebrate their achievements

The Embassy is delighted to announce that the Ireland Fellows Programme is now open for applications from candidates in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay.

The Ireland Fellows Programme will enable one early to mid-career professional from each country to undertake a fully-funded one-year master’s level programme at a higher education institution in Ireland, commencing from August/ September 2024.

The Award being offered is the Cecilia Grierson Award in Equality, which has been established to honour the memory of Cecilia Grierson, an Argentine activist and pioneering medical practitioner of Irish descent, and the first woman in Argentina to qualify as a doctor. With her striking legacy in mind, the award enables young professionals to undertake a master’s level course of study in STEM subjects in Ireland.

The fellowship award covers programme fees, flights, accommodation and living costs. Eligible master’s level programmes in Ireland run for between 10 and 16 months.  The programme promotes gender equality, equal opportunity, and welcomes diversity.

The Ireland Fellows Programme aims to nurture future leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean, while contributing to the capacity of countries to achieve national sustainable development goals in line with Agenda 2030 and building positive relationships with and in Ireland.

The Ireland Fellows Programme is fully funded by the Irish Government and is offered under the auspices of the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Programme aligns with the Irish Government’s commitments under Global Ireland and the national implementation plan for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)The Global Island: Ireland’s Foreign Policy for a Changing World, A Better World: Ireland’s Policy for International DevelopmentGlobal Ireland: Ireland’s Strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean to 2025, and Ireland's International Education Strategy.
