Meet the Author: Olivia Fitzsimons

The Northern Ireland Executive Office and the Embassy of Ireland are delighted to invite you to our first joint author event of 2023, featuring Olivia Fitzsimons. The event will take place on 26 January at 18:30 at the Embassy of Ireland on Rue Froissart 50. Olivia will be reading from her debut novel, 'The Quiet Whispers Never Stop'. which was published in April 2022 to critical acclaim.

About Olivia Fitzsimons

Olivia hails from Northern Ireland and lives in Wicklow. Among her accolades, she won the Bray Literary Festival Flash Fiction Prize in 2018 and was an Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair Winner in 2020. In the same year, she was awarded an Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon Literature Bursary and a Professional Development Award for mentorship with Kit De Waal. She was also a recipient of the Support for Individual Artist Programme Award from Arts Council of Northern Ireland from their lottery funded General Arts Award Scheme. She has read and discussed her work as part of literary panels for Culture Night, Bray Literary Festival and Staccato. Her writing can be found in many journals in print and online, including Crannog, The Cormorant, The Honest Ulsterman, Cease Cows and Reflex Fiction.

Aside from writing, Olivia works on book to screen adaptations and organises literary events. In 2020, she co-curated the Way for Words Literary Festival in Wicklow.
