The Embassy of Ireland, Bratislava is seeking to recruit a Housekeeper for the Official Accommodation of the Ambassador of Ireland. The Embassy is seeking a suitable person to ensure that the residence is well-presented and functions smoothly. 

The person selected will be a self-starter with a flexible approach, capable of managing and executing a wide range of tasks at the residence of the Irish Ambassador to Bratislava. The successful candidate will also be a good team player who enjoys working collaboratively. 

This post carries no entitlement to civil servant status in Ireland or in Bratislava.


Roles and Responsibilities:
The precise range of duties will vary over time, but will include the following: 

  • Responsibility for all aspects of household management/housekeeping under the guidance of the Ambassador;
  • Liaison with service-providers at residence and with Embassy team;
  • Grocery shopping, budget and stock management;
  • Maintenance of the kitchen, pantry and associated areas;
  • Ensuring respect for relevant health, safety and hygiene requirements;
  • General kitchen duties;
  • Cleaning responsibilities of the Official Accommodation;
  • Assist with functions and events; and
  • Any other relates duties as reasonably required from time to time by the Ambassador or in his absence, the Acting Head of Mission. 


Candidate Profile
:

To be eligible the following qualifications and competencies are required:  

  • Proficiency in the English and Slovak language, both written and spoken;
  • Previous experience in Housekeeping/Cleaning;
  • Flexibility and strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills; and
  • The legal right to work in the Slovak Republic. All locally hired staff are required to have a legal entitlement to live and work in the country prior to hiring

 Terms and conditions of employment: 

  • The successful candidate will be hired on an initial fixed term contract;
  • 30 hours/week – mainly daytime but with flexible hours, including periodic evening and occasional weekend work reflecting the business needs of the Embassy and in line with local regulations
  • Starting salary of €15,614.47 per annum, will be paid locally on a monthly basis.
  • Please note that employers’ tax and social insurances will be deducted at source.
  •  Salaries are paid direct to a bank account, therefore, the successful candidate must have a bank account;

Security Clearance for Local Staff
Police security clearance will be sought in respect of individuals who come under consideration for appointment. Enquiries may also be made with the police force of any country in which the applicant under consideration for appointment resided. If unsuccessful, this information will be destroyed. If the applicant subsequently comes under consideration for another position, they will be required to supply this information again.
