Feeding the Extremely Vulnerable Households in Karamoja

Karamoja is largely a semi-arid area which does not favour the growth of food-crops. Over 76% of its people live below the poverty line.

As a result, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) distributes food to the extremely vulnerable household including female headed households, elderly and people with disabilities.

In 2013, Irish Aid contributed €130,000 to the WFP PPRO 200429 (Stabilizing Food Consumption and Reducing Acute Malnutrition among Refugees and Extremely Vulnerable Households).
