Meet the Author: Paula Meehan

The Embassy of Ireland is pleased to invite you to our next 'Meet the Author' event on 26 October at 18:00. Our guest poet & playwright, Paula Meehan will join us for a poetry reading of her selected collection, 'As If By Magic', ahead of the launch of an anthology of Dutch translations of her poems 'Pillow Talk - Intiem gesprek' in Heusen-Zolder, Flanders on 28 October.

Where: Embassy of Ireland, Rue Froissart 50, 1040 Brussels

The event will be followed by a reception and book signing.

Copies of Paula's most recent collection, 'As If By Magic', published in 2020 by Dedalus Press, Dublin and in spring of 2021 by Wake Forest University Press, North Carolina, will be available for purchase on the night.

About Paula Meehan

Paula has published seven collections of poetry to popular and critical acclaim. Her work has been translated into many languages, most recently into Japanese and Dutch. She has received the Butler Literary Award for Poetry presented by the Irish American Cultural Institute, the Marten Toonder Award for Literature, the Denis Devlin Award for Dharmakaya, published in 2000, The Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry 2015.

She was honoured with election to Aosdána, the Irish Academy for the Arts, in 1996. She was Ireland Professor of Poetry, 2013 – 2016, and her public lectures from these years, 'Imaginary Bonnets with Real Bees in Them', was published by UCD Press in 2016.
