Irish Film Days 2022

May 2022 saw the launch  of the Irish Film Days Series at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. This series was announced by President Michael D. Higgins during his State Visit to Malta in May this year.

All screenings are free of charge and have been organised in collaboration with the Irish Film Institute, Culture Ireland, Arts Council Ireland, and Spazju Kreattiv – Malta's Centre for Creativity.

The first film screening was preceded by an introduction and welcome to by Ambassador Patrick Duffy.

The film "Redemption of a Rogue", directed by Cavan native Philip Doherty, follows Jimmy, played by Cavan's Aaron Monaghan (MAZE, Assassin's Creed), on his road to redemption after returning to his hometown. Stuck in a Groundhog Day-like scenario, Jimmy embarks on a sacrificial and outlandish journey to rid himself of his guilt and shame from the past, ultimately redeeming himself through love.

29 June 2022 saw the second screening of the Irish Film Days with "Deadly Cuts", winner of the Discovery Award Writer/Director of the Dublin International Film Festival. Set in Dublin and starring Angeline Ball, this black comedy follows the story of community heroes, salon owner Michelle and her colleagues Stacey, Gemma, and Chantelle.
