Can I get my passport today?

Information for Slovak residents on passport turnaround times

The current standard processing time is approximately 8 weeks.

A temporary passport can be issued on the day only in the case of an emergency situation (the death or serious illness of a family member).

In all other circumstances, you will have to wait a minimum of five working days to get a temporary passport. Valid proof of confirmed travel (e.g. airline ticket) must be presented in order for any application to be processed sooner than the standard turnaround. You may incur an additional fee. Please contact us immediately if you require a passport urgently.

We also provide assistance if you are on holiday in the Slovak Republic and your passport has been lost or stolen.

Due to the volume of applications which are received by the Passport office in Dublin in the run up to holiday periods (June to September and December), processing times may increase. It is therefore advisable to submit your completed application as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

It is worth taking time to read all the instructions on the application form carefully to avoid delays in processing your application. The Passport Office will reject applications that are incomplete, not witnessed correctly or contain photographs that do not meet the guidelines for photographs.
