Born outside Ireland

I was born outside Ireland, but have Irish parents/grandparents, can I apply for an Irish Passport?

If you were born outside Ireland to a parent born on the island of Ireland:

You are automatically an Irish citizen if one of your parents was an Irish citizen who was born on the island of Ireland. You may now apply for your Irish passport.  Find out how to apply

If neither of your parents were born in Ireland but you can claim Irish Citizenship by descent:

If you have your Foreign Birth Registration certificate you may now apply for your Irish passport. Find out how to apply.

Please see the citizenship section to see if you are eligible to apply for this certificate.
