Ireland's first resident Ambassador to Chile presents credentials to President Sebastián Piñera.

Ireland's first resident Ambassador to Chile, Paul Gleeson, formally presented credentials to the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, in Santiago yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 7 May). The new Embassy of Ireland in Chile is part of the Government's expansion of its footprint in Latin America under the Global Ireland programme.

The Ambassador was accompanied at the presentation of credentials by his wife, Alita Byrd, and the Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission, Aislinn McCauley.

The event included a short meeting with President Piñera, who was accompanied by Chile's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero.
