Irish Community Groups across Japan bring St. Patrick’s Day Back with a Bang!
アイリッシュ・コミュニティの力により、セント・パトリックス・デーのイベントが日本各地で堂々復活！

More than 20 St. Patrick’s Day parades and events took place in-person again around the country as well as another 20 locations lighting up in green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. We would like thank all of the Irish community groups, volunteers, sponsors, and our Japanese partners for their support in bringing St. Patrick’s Day back in Japan this year after the disruption caused by COVID.
アイルランドのナショナルデー「セント・パトリックス・デー」を祝って、今年は日本各地で20以上のパレードやイベントが開催され、対面での行事が本格的に再開。さらに、20カ所以上でグリーンのライトアップが行われました。新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響による中断期間を経て、今年、日本でセント・パトリックス・デーの行事を復活させることができたのは、アイリッシュコミュニティのグループ、ボランティア、スポンサー、そして日本のパートナーの皆様のご支援のおかげであり、皆様に感謝申し上げます。

Parades and events took place all across the country. Here, we highlight three of the events which Minister Jack Chambers T.D. participated in, during his visit to Japan in March:

Buildings across Japan light up in green, joining the worldwide Global Greening Programme
「グローバル・グリーニング」プログラムで日本各地の建物がグリーンに

In addition to the parades and events, 24 iconic buildings, landmarks and ferris wheels across Japan lit up in green to mark St. Patrick’s Day, joining thousands of buildings around the world as part of the Global Greening Programme. This represented a 33% increase on 2022 levels, when 18 sites in Japan lit up in green. Special thanks to Senyo Kogyo for their terrific support in increasing the number of greenings this year. Let’s try and increase this again further next year!
セント・パトリックス・デーを記念して世界各地の建物やモニュメントなどをグリーンにライトアップする「グローバル・グリーニング」プログラムの一環として、日本では今年24カ所の建物、史跡、観覧車などでグリーンライトアップが実施されました。2022年の18カ所から33％の増加です。本プログラムの拡大に多大なるお力添えをいただいた泉陽興行株式会社様をはじめ、ライトアップ実施にご協力いただいた各企業・自治体・団体の皆様に御礼申し上げます。来年はさらに多くの場所をグリーンに染めることを目指します。

Visit by Jack Chambers T.D. Minister of State for Transport, Environment, Climate and Communications
ジャック・チェンバース 交通省 国際・道路交通・物流担当大臣 兼 環境・気候・通信省 郵政政策担当大臣来日

Ireland’s Minister of State at the Department of Transport and the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, Mr Jack Chambers T.D., visited Japan from 9 to 16 March. His visit was part of the annual global outreach by representatives of the Irish Government for Ireland’s national day, St. Patrick’s Day.
3月9日から16日の日程で、ジャック・チェンバース 交通省 国際・道路交通・物流担当大臣 兼 環境・気候・通信省 郵政政策担当大臣が来日しました。これは、セント・パトリックス・デーを記念して毎年この時期にアイルランド政府閣僚が世界各地を訪問する活動の一環です。

During his visit, Minister Chambers met with a range of political and economic contacts, as well as with members of the Irish community and Japanese friends. He had bilateral meetings with Mr. Yoshifumi Tsuge, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, and with Mr. Shoji Nishida, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
チェンバース大臣は滞在中、政治・経済分野の重要関係先と幅広く会談したほか、日本のアイリッシュ・コミュニティや日本のパートナーの方々と交流しました。また、柘植芳文総務副大臣、西田昭二国土交通大臣政務官と二国間関係の促進について会談しました。

National Day Reception
ナショナルデー・レセプション

On 10 March, Ambassador Cole hosted a National Day Reception in person, for the first time since 2019. After the speeches by Minister Chambers and Mr. Hiroyuki Hosoda, Speaker of the House of Representatives, fantastic Japanese musicians performed traditional Irish music and dance.
コール大使は3月10日、対面では2019年以来となるナショナルデー・レセプションを開催しました。チェンバース大臣、細田博之衆議院議長によるスピーチの後、日本人アーティストによるアイルランドの伝統音楽とダンスのパフォーマンスをお楽しみいただきました。
