How much does a passport cost?

This depends on how you submit your application. Please select an option below.

Cheques are not accepted.

From Monday, 15th July 2019 the Public Offices in Dublin and Cork will no longer be able to accept cash payments. The following payment types will continue to be accepted:

  • Debit/credit card
  • bank draft
  • postal order

There is an additional €5 postal fee for each child application to cover the cost of returning documents to the applicant.

There is an additional €5 postal fee if you reside outside Ireland.

Please note that a single payment of €5 applies to applications for children resident outside Ireland.

An additional administrative fee for handling and Express Post delivery is paid directly to An Post. The fee for a single application is €9.50 and the fee for up to four applications made at the same time is €16.

The Northern Ireland Postal Service charges an additional administrative fee of £11 per passport application. You can choose to submit your Passport Express application from over 70 post offices in Northern Ireland.

Public Counter - Additional processing charge:

You'll have to pay the following charge if you receive your passport within three to five working days:

Adult - €70

Under 18s - €38
