An Entertainment to commemorate the the 1916 Rising on the 100th anniversary, O'Malley's Bar Hotel Torni, Helsinki, 17.00

The phrase 'a terrible beauty is born' was used by the Irish poet W.B. Yeats to describe the events of Easter 1916 when a Proclamation declaring an Irish Republic and rebellion against British rule in Ireland was carried out. Irish actor Frank Boyle will perform alongside musicians and guest readers. Poems, ballads and other literary works from the 'poets revolution' will be recited, with historical statements and accounts delivered in an entertaining narrative giving insight into a celebrating the momentous events of the 1916 Rising in Ireland.

IESAF St Patrick's Family day 2016, 14:00 - 17:00, Molly Malone's Irish Bar, Helsinki

IESAF is proud to host a fantastic day of family fun to celebrate St Patrick's Day. The event will be held at Molly Molloy's Irish bar on Kaisaniemenkatu and will be packed full of entertainment for both kids and adults. Everyone is welcome to attend and entrance is free! Salo Irish Music Festival

18-19 March 2016

Salo Irish Festival will celebrate the best of Irish music and dance performed by Finnish-based artists just after St. Patrick's Day on 18 and 19 March. The festival will feature performances by Gather No Moss, the Irish Session of Helsinki, The Green Hope and Dragún Irish Dancers. The festival is organised by the Finnish-Irish Society ry Salo. Greenings in Lahti and Heinola

Greenings will take place this afternoon in Lahti and Heinola. Thanks to Lahti Energy Company and local Irish citizen Charissa McCarron, the two Lahti Radio Masts will be greened in honour of St. Patrick's Day. In Heinola, Stephen and Marika Cronin will 'Go green for St Patrick's Day' by illuminating their restaurant Ranta Casino. Stephen Cronin is also Chairman of the Irish Finnish Business Network.
