Meeting with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra
Ambassador Colm Ó Floinn and Deputy Head of Mission Caoimh Kett met with the General Manager of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO), Gita Kadambi, and HPO Orchestra Manager, Jere Siukola, in advance of the HPO’s concert at the National Concert Hall (NCH) in Dublin on 12 December. The concert was their first visit to Dublin since 1984. HPO played an all-Sibelius programme celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Finnish composer. John Storgårds conducted, in what was his second last concert with the HPO as Chief Conductor, and the winner of the 2015 Sibelius Violin Competition, Christel Lee, performed as a guest soloist.
