Unveiling of Winter War Memorial

On 7 September Ambassador Ó Floinn together with the British Ambassador H.E. Sarah Price, unveiled a monument “to the memory of those British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens who volunteered to serve in the Finnish Army during the Winter War of 1940”. The memorial is sited at Tähtiniemi Hostel, Korpilahti. Those who organised the commissioning of the memorial included Graham Burns, a coordinator of Finn-Guild, local historian Matt Hyvärinen, and the Korpilahti Reserve Officers’ Association.
