St Brigid’s Day celebrations in Mozambique 2022

Dom Junior's original St Brigid's Day rap can be listened to on Youtube

The Embassy of Ireland in Mozambique was delighted to celebrate Saint Brigid’s Day, marked annually by the beginning of spring in Ireland on 1st February. Saint Brigid’s Day symbolizes hope and new beginnings, whilst also highlighting the strength and creativity of women by honouring Ireland’s female patron saint.

The Embassy partnered with local musician Dom Júnior, to share a powerful original song inspired by the date and the celebration of women. The main messages shared were on female empowerment and gender equality, highlighting how women have remained resilient despite the challenges they face. The video can be viewed below.

A staff video was also produced, in which the Ambassador and members of staff shared key messages on the importance of supporting women in all areas of work, and empowering them to tap into their potential and be a part of shaping a better future. The video can be found on Facebook.
