Ambassador signs an Open Letter of Support

Ambassador signs an Open Letter of Support

On 17 May, Ambassador Haughey signed an Open Letter of Support for efforts to raise public awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQI+ and other communities in Poland. The letter was signed by 47 embassies and representations based in Warsaw. It carries a positive message, affirming the fundamental rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The key message is that human rights are universal and everyone, including LGBTQI+ persons, entitled to their full enjoyment. The letter also acknowledges the LGBTQI+ community’s contributions to supporting those fleeing the war in Ukraine as an integral part of Polish society. The letter was coordinated by the Royal Norwegian Embassy. Ireland previously coordinated the letter in 2018.
