Ambassador Austin Gormley has presented his Letter of Credence to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In brief remarks to the President at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Tshwane, Mr Gormley said it's "a great honour and privilege" to present his credentials to President Ramaphosa and pointed to the unique nature of Irish-South African relations.

"A very warm welcome and a special relationship which we will build further."

Ambassador Gormley also noted President Ramaphosa's critical role in the Northern Ireland peace process that culminated in the signing of the historic Good Friday Agreement.
