The Polish Government has announced additional restrictive measures to take effect throughout Poland from 15 December.

1. Limits to the number of people in the following places:

Restaurants, bars and hotels – 30% occupancy (increasing this limit for fully vaccinated people is subject to businesses checking Covid-19 certificates);

Cinemas, theatres, sports and religious facilities – 30% occupancy (increasing this limit for fully vaccinated people is subject to businesses checking Covid-19 certificates). In cinemas, it will be forbidden to eat or drink during screenings.

2. Closure of nightclubs and discos until further notice.

  • The exception to this closure will be on New Year’s Eve (31 December/1 January), where a maximum of 100 people will be permitted, under a strict sanitary regime.

3. Mandatory tests for Covid-19

  • All passengers arriving into Poland from outside the EU and Schengen Area will be required to present a negative test, performed no earlier than 24 hours before arrival. Vaccinated people are not exempt from this testing requirement. Please note that as an EU Member State, Ireland is not included in this requirement.
  • All people living with people who are infected with Covid-19 must also take a test for Covid-19. Vaccinated people are not exempt from this testing requirement.

4. Remote learning for all primary and secondary schools from 20 December until 9 January.

  • Kindergartens and nurseries will continue to operate as normal.
