President Higgins to pay State Visit to Germany

Background Briefing for Media
State Visit of the President of Ireland


Following an invitation from the Federal President of Germany H.E. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier,
the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins will undertake a State Visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

The State Visit, which aims to highlight and further develop the close links between the two countries, will take place from 3-5 July 2019.

President Higgins will be accompanied on the State Visit by his wife Sabina Higgins and they will fulfil engagements in
Berlin, Leipzig, Wurzburg and Frankfurt.

 

In advance of the visit, the

Ambassador of Ireland to Germany, Michael Collins will offer a background briefing to media on 24 June at 11.00

in the Embassy of Ireland, Jägerstrasse 51, 10117 Berlin (conference call dial-in available for non-Berlin based media).

The briefing will cover plans for the visit and the development of Irish-German relations.
