Celebration of St. Patrick's Day 2022 in Zagreb

St Patrick’s Day 2022 in Croatia events kicked off on Saturday 12 March when the Embassy sponsored a St Patrick’s cookoff, organised by Irish chef Stephen Breslin, bringing together members of the Irish community and Croatian media/social influencers to make and enjoy Irish food.

Minister of State with responsibility for Skills and Further Education, Niall Collins TD, visited Zagreb from 13-16 March. He had a full programme of bilateral meetings with Croatian government, parliamentary, and education sector interlocutors. He also recorded a radio interview with the Croatian State Broadcaster, visited the just opening Irish Archaeological photographic exhibition, and was guest of honour at a gathering of the Irish community.

On St Patrick’s Day itself, Ambassador Dowling was interviewed on Dubro Jutro, Hrvatska, the morning TV show on the Croatian state broadcaster, along with Irish musician John Hamill. There was also a virtual St Patrick’s reception held for the friends of Ireland that day. The following day Ambassador Dowling took part in the first St Patrick’s festival in Varaždin, which will hopefully become an annual event.
