Children's writing & art competition

Children’s writing and art competition

Do you have a young budding writer or prospective artist in your house between the ages of 4 and 12?
Have they visited Ireland? Or read about Ireland? Or seen a film set in Ireland? Or just heard about Ireland from a friend or family member?

If yes, then we’d love to hear from them! We are looking for short essays or stories about Ireland or art work featuring Ireland or connected to Ireland in some way.

The story / essay (handwritten) or art-work should fit on an A4 page and be submitted to us as a scan or photo at the following email address : berlin@dfa.ie

The name and age of the child as well as the name, address and email of their parent or guardian should accompany all entries.

The best entries will be published on the Embassy’s website and social media platforms over the coming period (only the first name and age of the child will be listed).  The competition is open to all children (aged between 4 and 12) who are resident in Germany irrespective of nationality.

Two separate prizes will be awarded for both the best story and the best artwork in two separate age categories (4-7 and 8-12). The award in each category will be a €50 voucher for the Irish company, Smyths Toys.

Entries are invited until 18.00hrs on Monday 11 May.  Judging will be by an Embassy panel and decisions will be final.
